RamSorb IA <-- H O M E

RamSorb 1A is not a neutralization agent, but rather an absorbent that allows a safer way of handling casual and emergency acid spills.

RamSorb 1A is a combination of various particle-sized cellulose materials that are impregnated with 15% soda ash. It is safe to handle and when applied to an acid spill, RamSorb 1A immediately begins to absorb and neutralize the acid.

In most states, materials with a pH level above 2.0 are deemed safe for disposal into landfills (based solely on the pH measurement). Disposal must be in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations.

RamSorb 1A absorbs acids and renders them safe to dispose while affording maximum worker safety. Kitty litter, peat moss, polypropylene and cellulose absorbents are ineffective in handling acids thus putting workers in danger in the handling of the spill.

RamSorb 1A absorbs up to
4-6 times its own weight!

RamSorb IA can save on waste disposal. It can be incinerated and will contribute approximately 7,000 BTUs per pound during incineration with less than 4% ash. RamSorb I may be placed in landfills, or in certain oil field applications. Of course, the nature of the hydrocarbon encapsulated in the RamSorb is the decisive factor in determining the disposal method.

For most acids up to a 50% concentration level, RamSorb 1A will adequately neutralize the pH, allowing for immediate disposal. When handling acids that are more highly concentrated, apply liberally over the acid to suppress the acid's reactivity capabilities and prevent spreading. There will be an audible "fizz" as the soda ash starts reacting with the acid. At that time, simply add more soda ash and dampen down with water until the desired pH level has been reached. When the material is dry enough to pick up it can be disposed.

RamSorb® comes in six varieties, RamSorb I, RamSorb IA, RamSorb II, RamSorb III, andRamSorb IV. There is sure to be one that fits your needs.
